2009-10 Winter EIKO’S KNITTING CLASS
Eiko teaches 'free-form knitting' to both beginners and advanced knitters. The classes are energetic and unique and are tailored to the individual students in each session. You can take as many or as few classes as you like - they are open-ended, with continually new techniques and projects being introduced. You are welcome to discuss the classes with Eiko before signing up.
Classes are in both English and Japanese and you will learn 'knitting vocabulary' from both cultures. You are asked to bring your own knitting kit for your first session. If you need one, they can be purchased from the wide variety at the Mieko Mintz store.
Classes are $30, payable on the day of the class. The maximum number of students is 8. Reservations are recommended. If you would like to attend, please call 212-627-1524 or email us at miekomintz@optonline.net.
Classes begin Sunday, November 29th. All classes will be on Sundays, 2:00-4:00 PM, through spring 2010 at our store in Soho: Mieko Mintz, 65 Thompson St., New York, NY 10012.
Eiko Berkowitz is an experienced knitter who has her own unique "wabi-sabi" style. She started knitting when she was four years old and had a boutique on the Lower East Side for ten years. Now she owns two sheep, ten cats, and dyes and spins raw wool to create her own colorful yarns. She is a partner of Succotash Yarns and her skeins are available for purchase at Meiko Mintz.
