MIEKO MINTZ SUMMER NEWSLETTER

What better time than the approach of summer for our first newsletter.
We hope the season finds you well and just the right amount warmer.

Today, we have for you:
An invitation to Mimi’s birthday party,
A fashion suggestion from Mieko,
And some skincare tips from Kazuko, our patternmaker of many talents,
including a background as an aestitician.

Happy Birthday, Mimi!

On June 21, 2005, a mouse ran in through our front door and hid itself in the back room. Three days later in hot pursuit, Mimi also ran into the store and made herself at home in the back. Shortly thereafter, the mouse was found dead apparently from fright, and Mimi found herself with a steady job and a permanent home. As the date of her birth is uncertain, we celebrate her arrival on June 24th.

So on Sunday, June 24th, at 6:00 pm, come join us at the store for Mimi’s Second Birthday Party featuring live guitar, wine and cheese, a birthday cake, and, of course, Mimi.

Mieko Introduces the Perfect Kurti

Kurtis appeared on the Western fashion scene a few years ago, but were of uneven quality and shape, so Mieko held back from stocking them. But she continued searching for the perfect kurti and now the results of that search are in her store. Yes, the perfect kurti is here at last. It’s 100% cotton to fight the heat. It’s tunic length and fitted at the bust for a touch of elegance. It looks great both at the beach and at the office. And for just $39.00, who needs t-shirts!

Here Comes the Sun Warns Kazuko
  1. Citrus magic. Did you know that citrus has a whitening effect? If lemon feels too acidic for you, try orange. You can either mask your face with slices of orange or you can squeeze a few drops into the toner you use. But not too much orange, it contains a lot of sugar.

  2. Go darker. Darker hues blocks UV rays much better than lighter ones. Use dark-colored hats and cardigans to cover up. You can wear pastels for skirts and pants to match the season.

  3. Shrugs, don’t leave home without one! Shoulders receive more UV rays than any other part of the body. Shrugs prevent direct exposure, and yet let plenty of fresh air through so you can still feel that breeze. When you don’t need it, simply fold and keep in your bag.

Hoping to see you soon,
Mieko
