VINTAGE KIMONO & HAORI
| My love for beautiful textiles runs deep, originally influenced by my home country Japan, and the tradition of beautiful silk kimonos and kimono silks. I have always found it exciting to search for, discover and be inspired by wonderful antique and ethnic textiles from all over the world. My store showcases a large selection of fabulous vintage silk kimonos and haori jackets, many of them hand-painted collector’s items. I also use pieces of special kimono silks in the fashions I design, from Meisen silk vests and blouses to tomesode silk capes and pants. Kimono silk is some of the finest, most diverse silk in the world, and each kimono fashion I design is one of a kind. I love to work with the unique texture of shibori hand-dyed silk, and to incorporate the incredible colors of yuzen hand-painting into some of my many creations. The diversity of kimonos, their textures and colors continues to amaze and inspire me. It’s an inspiration I wish to share with everyone who visits my store! |
